Avionics Systems Engineer

Vertical Aerospace is building technology to revolutionise how people fly. Our mission is to make air travel personal, on-demand and carbon-free.

We're looking for an Avionics Systems Engineer to develop the Platform Avionics, Control Systems and Ground Systems for a new type of aircraft.

You'll have broad engineering experience delivering programs throughout the entire lifecycle; an aerospace or automotive background with physics-based modelling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Your duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Requirements Capture, decomposition & traceability
  • Architecture design with performance / complexity / development trade offs
  • Compliance to relevant aerospace standards
  • Fault tree / Safety analysis
  • System Simulation
  • Equipment integration
  • V&V activities
  • Presenting complex system information in an understandable way to different levels of the business

Basic Qualifications / Experience

  • 3-7 years experience with the majority in Systems Engineering (grade offered depends on level of experience)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics / Software or Relevant Engineering discipline
  • Proficiency in SysML
  • Experience designing system of system products
  • Knowledge of software & hardware engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
  • Proficiency in basic coding (Python / C++ / JAVA etc)
  • Experience with Matlab Simulink
  • Experience in communicating with stakeholders, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in automated testing
  • Experience of certifying to aerospace standards
  • Masters or PhD in relevant Engineering discipline
  • Experience with building and testing systems on small UAS
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Experience with hardware/software integration in real time and non real time systems
